I needed to contact PayPal due to a dispute. I am VERY savvy when it comes to online financial info and I ALMOST fell for this! So these phishing attempts are highly sophisticated. The scam involves Google play store cards. There has been some type of breach that PayPal is NOT disclosing to consumers. (These scammers knew I had multiple cards on file, my phone number and first and last name!) Someone inside PayPal is helping the scammers and selling information they have available. When I contacted the REAL PayPal they verified that this IS there number but couldn't explain how I dialed it and ended up in the hands of scammers. *I googled "contact PayPal" it brought up this number- 1-88.

The time of day you call can significantly affect both the wait time, and which call center (domestic or off-shore) you reach. Once you do it you will be connected with a live customer service representative (typical waiting time is about 1 hour 20 minutes – 1 hour 50 minutes).
